Nasdaq, Cboe apply to offer BTC ETF options trading, receive fast response
Options are “the next logical step” for BTC ETF trading and could begin by the end of February, according to an analyst.
On Jan. 19, the US Protections and Trade Commission (SEC) recognized Nasdaq and the Cboe’s recommendations to start choices exchanging on Bitcoin
BTC trade exchanged reserves (ETFs).Nasdaq petitioned for a standard change to rundown and exchange choices on BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust. Trading options on “ETPs [exchange-traded products] that Hold Bitcoin” was requested by the Cboe. Cboe sent off six of the 10 BTC ETFs as of late supported by the SEC.
BTC ETFs started exchanging on the Nasdaq and Cboe on Jan. 11 in the wake of getting endorsement from the SEC daily prior. Cboe leader VP Catherine Dirt told CNBC on Jan. 18 that the trade was seeing “great inflows” into the BTC ETFs, which kept on following the cost of BTC “true to form.”
Dirt referred to choices as “the following coherent step on the [BTC] ETFs.” She said BTC ETF choices exchanging would add utility and hazard moderation to the items. Nasdaq said in its recording that choices would offer “cost efficiencies and expanded supporting methodologies.”

Choices are a subsidiary that permits the holder to trade a resource at a foreordained cost at a foreordained time. VettaFi examiner Dave Nadig told CNBC on Jan. 17:
“I think you’re going to start seeing all sorts of hedge fund players in the [BTC ETF options] space. Folks that might not have been traditionally speculating on crypto directly in the crypto ecosystem are now going to have something to play with.”
Cboe petitioned for authorization to list choices “last week,” Dirt said, and “We’re truly in this brief delay to see how the controllers will manage our recording and other trades’ filings too. [… ] It’s truly hard to be aware assuming that we will try and see endorsement.”
Cboe’s choices clearing company needed to make comparative filings with the SEC and the Product Fates Exchanging Commission, Dirt added.
Bloomberg ETF examiner James Seyffart remarked on the surprising expediency of the Nasdaq declaration. It’s conceivable that choices exchanging endorsement could precede the finish of February or around Sept. 21 at the most recent.
The proposition will be open for input for 21 days after their distribution in the Government Register.
