Using cryptocurrency wallet provider MetaMask, the game aggregator will enable users to connect their Web3 wallets to a number of games.

The early access launch of HyperPlay, a Web3-native game launcher with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, has been revealed.

In order to connect players’ cryptocurrency wallets with game stores like the Epic Games Store, GOG (previously Good Old Games), and its own HyperPlay Store, the online game launcher was developed in partnership with crypto wallet provider MetaMask.

Former MetaMask operations lead JacobC.eth founded the new platform, which doesn’t charge developers any commissions and instead intends to rely on cryptocurrency services like swaps and bridges to monetize the site.

The platform’s recently released alpha version allows users to integrate their existing wallets and create new MetaMask wallets within the UI.

JacobC.eth explained that this wallet may be overlay on top of a game, enabling users to swiftly validate transactions while playing, to Godleak.

The Sandbox, Another Planet, Bionic Owl, DeFi Kingdoms, and Moonblasters are just a few of the 21 Web3 games that HyperPlay started on its platform with, according to the release from March 1. Players may also use it to launch the games they own from these other platforms because it is linked to both the Epic Games and GOG storefronts.

The platform’s creator highlighted to Cointelegraph that a new game aggregator is required because major shops are deplatforming and overcharging Web3 games.

“Today, Web3 game developers are being deplatformed by Apple, Steam, Google, and those legacy Web2 stores are also forcing the developers’ to accept 30% taxes on every in-game action that happens in their economies, so we wanted to create a more competitive market between game stores.”

He also argued that the platform can give players a universal wallet that doesn’t require them to alt-tab out of a game every time they do a transaction, stating:

“We built Hyperplay as a native desktop application that allows the player to pass their wallet into every game that they play, and we want to make interoperability, permissionless extensibility, and great UX the default for Web3 gaming.”

HyperPlay is in an alpha build and might not be stable, as JacobC.eth noted. As it approaches a full public debut in the future, the development team intends to receive input from playtesters and make improvements to the game.
